David Atkins, Principal Scientist, Watershed Environmental

David Atkins is Principal Scientist at Watershed Environmental Consulting and has 20 years of experience as a water resources and environmental engineer. Much of his work has focused on the technical aspects of understanding impacts from extractive resource projects. Over the past ten years, he has focused on helping diverse groups of stakeholders understand impacts from natural resource development through education, building local capacity, and designing participatory methods that engage communities in partnerships with companies and regulatory authorities. Much of this work has been under the auspices of technical advisor to the Office of the Compliance Advisor/Ombudsman, the independent recourse mechanism for IFC and MIGA of the World Bank Group. He has worked extensively in Latin America and Africa.
