Britt D. Banks, Chair, Global agenda council of the future of mining and metals, World Economic Forum

Britt D Banks

Britt Banks currently chairs the Global Agenda Council on the Future of Mining and Metals at the World Economic Forum. He also is Adjunct Professor at the University of Colorado Law School.

In 2008, he retired as Executive Vice President, Legal and External Affairs at Newmont Mining Corporation, based in Denver, Colorado. Newmont is one of the world’s largest gold producers, with operations in Nevada, Peru, Australia, Indonesia, and Ghana. He served during 2005-06 as Chair of the Executive Working Group of the International Council on Mining and Metals, an industry association working to improve member performance in the areas of sustainable development, environmental stewardship, employee health and safety, and social responsibility.

Mr. Banks serves as President of the Board of Trustees of the National Court Appointed Special Advocates Association, and as a member of the Board of Advisors of the Natural Resources Law Center at the University of Colorado.
